What format is this?
An XRechnung carries the same information as a paper invoice — invoice number, supplier, buyer, line items, VAT and the amount due — but as structured XML. That is why opening it directly usually shows a tree of tags instead of an invoice.
Two syntaxes are allowed: UBL (root element Invoice) andCII (root element CrossIndustryInvoice). Both are read here and presented identically.

- What is an XRechnung?
- XRechnung is the German standard for electronic invoices sent to public authorities. The invoice is an XML file following the European norm EN 16931 — written for software rather than for people.
- Is my invoice uploaded anywhere?
- No. The file is read inside your browser. It is never sent to a server, never stored, and nothing about it is kept once you close the page.
- Which formats are supported?
- This release reads XRechnung 3.0 in both syntaxes: UBL and CII. Factur-X, ZUGFeRD, Peppol BIS and generic UBL invoices are planned for later releases.
- What is the difference between UBL and CII?
- They are two XML syntaxes for the same content. UBL comes from OASIS, CII from UN/CEFACT. Whichever your supplier used, the invoice is normalized into the same view here.
- Can I save the invoice as a PDF?
- Yes. Print / Save as PDF opens your browser's print dialog, where you can choose to save as PDF. The printed page shows the readable invoice without any controls.
- Does this tool tell me whether my invoice is valid?
- It runs its own preflight checks: required information present, totals adding up. That is explicitly not an official XRechnung or EN 16931 validation.
